President of BCI Group, Bob Coen has a diverse background as an active advisor to a variety of businesses from printing and publishing companies, manufacturing and distribution firms to technology, retail and service providers. His past experience includes starting his own business, merging it with a larger organization, and then acquiring other select books of business and small companies to become what we are today.
Bob consults with shareholders and senior management team members who want to grow and/or transition their business and employee benefits to the next generation. His areas of specialty are advising and consulting clients in defining shareholder objectives, senior management team structure, performance measurements, executive compensation and employee benefits.
Bob excels at understanding the unique needs of business and the leadership required to crystallize its goals, priorities, and direction. He also assists business owners in generating wealth, properly managing and diversifying their assets, and preserving what they have worked hard to accumulate.
Bob is a former board member of Edgefield Children's Center and current board member of Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) and Oregon Children's Development Commission (OCDC), one of Oregon's largest federally funded state wide nonprofit organizations.

Licensed Agent and Consultant Dick Smith is the founder of BCI Group. He has been the visionary and impetus for the company's long-standing success. His negotiation skills and innovative leadership ideas have brought him recognition with both clients and insurance carriers. An industry veteran, Dick has been in the life and health insurance business for over 40 years.
He says the success of BCI is based upon one simple philosophy: "Provide the highest and most efficient level of service to our clients and their employees."
Dick has been a member of the Presidents Council and Eagles Club, with the Leading Producers Round Table, in the National Association of Health Underwriters. He has also served on the Blue Cross and PACC Advisory Committee. Dick has served over 20 years on the Hospital Foundation board in Hood River, four as President. He has served with both the White Salmon and East Vancouver USA Rotary clubs. He has served five years as the President of the Lake Merwin Campers Hideaway board of directors and also as a past County Commissioner.
In his personal time, Dick enjoys travel, remodeling, reading leadership books, wine tasting, community service and camping with family and friends.

With over 30 years in financial services, Steve has extensive experience in the design, implementation, and on-going service of employee benefit and retirement plans, along with a successful track record in contract negotiations on behalf of his clients.
He also has a depth of knowledge in executive compensation, business transitions, shareholder exit strategies, strategic planning, estate planning and comprehensive wealth management. These skills assist BCI Group clients in successfully designing and managing benefit plans for employees, key executives and shareholders. In addition, Steve provides solutions to shareholder and family wealth management, allowing business owners, key executives, and their families to comfortably move forward in defining and achieving their goals in ever changing, dynamic situations.
As a Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Life Underwriter, Steve brings a unique approach to employee benefits that combine sensitivity to employee needs while balancing employer objectives to deliver results. Steve is a member of the Financial Planning Association, National Association of Insurance and Financial Planning, Western Pension Benefits Association, National Association of Health Underwriters, Oregon Association of Health Underwriters and the Society of Financial Service Professionals.

With BCI since 1999, John has a wealth of finance and administration experience in private industry with companies including Holland America Cruise Lines, Red Lion Hotels, Tidewater Barge Lines, and Mt. Hood Chemical Corporation. He is well versed in all aspects of accounting and finance and has managed information systems, human resource functions, corporate insurance, and the employee benefits of a business.
John oversees the finance and administration for BCI and assists in the oversight of the Group Insurance division. His financial and systems background provides expertise to BCI's consulting practice – John oversees engagements and provides financial analyses for our clients, as well as plays a lead role in all merger and acquisition propositions.
John is active in the community – helping with the administration of his church and the Gymnastics Booster Club. He is also very involved with the activities of his three daughters and thus is a supporter of Southern Utah Gymnastics, University of Idaho Cheer, and Skyview High School Cheer. His interests include playing bridge and fantasy baseball, completing crossword and sudoku puzzles, watching reality TV, and mourning Washington State Cougar football.

Kevin has spent a large chunk of his career in the employee benefits business. Most of that time was spent at insurance companies in customer service management, operations management, and sales/account management. Prior to health insurance, Kevin gained experience in high tech manufacturing, logistics/import/export, state government, and wholesale/retail sales companies. His broad experience helps him assist clients using best practices across differing industries and his ability to think "outside the box" to create more valuable benefit plans within the budget allowed.
Kevin is responsible for Business Development at BCI Group, which encompasses the growth of group insurance, individual insurance and financial products, and retirement plans.
Kevin is an active volunteer and supports the Ronald McDonald House, serves on the board and leadership team of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), and an active member of Health Net Agent Advisory Group.
He is an avid enthusiast of golf and college football.

Carolyn is responsible for BCI Group's bookkeeping. She works closely with the CFO, completing all accounting functions, including AP, payroll, financial statements and commission reporting. She has over 25 years of accounting and bookkeeping experience and has been with BCI Group since 1991. Carolyn helped start and manage our Third Party Administration division.
Numbers are Carolyn's passion. She takes great pride in her accuracy and speed in getting jobs done. "I'm willing to take on any task," she says. "I always look for ways to make processes faster and more efficient, without losing the accuracy and detail."
Carolyn has been active in our community as a long-standing member and officer of Soroptimists International of Hood River and Hood River County SMART (Start Making a Reader Today). In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, biking, and black cats. Her claim to fame is bungee-jumping out of a hot-air balloon.
Graduate of Heald Business College in Accounting
Marlene has worked in the group insurance market for 22 years. She joined BCI Group in 1997 and works with a diverse range of clients including some of our largest accounts. As manager of our Group Insurance Center, Marlene responds directly to client needs and helps develop solutions. She also is responsible for securing proposals on behalf of our clients for their group benefit products. Marlene often assists our clients with Employee Education meetings.
Prior to joining BCI, Marlene worked as a representative for PACC Health Plans for nine years. She is an active volunteer for both the PTA and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Marlene enjoys camping with family and friends, gardening, and enjoying the outdoors. Her favorite sporting events are her kids' soccer games and March Madness.

Nick is active in Summit View Church and Bible Study Fellowship. He enjoys spending time with his family, training and competing in triathlons, and spending time in central Oregon.
